Why Assassin’s Creed’s Historical Settings Are Perfect for TV
Netflix finally gives the green light to the Assassin’s Creed series that has been in limbo for some time now, with an unknown date on when the series will be out on the Netflix platform. Since 2020, fans of the Ubisoft-acclaimed and world-famous action-adventure stealth video game series have been waiting for some official information to know more about Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed series. However, the company has now sent official statements to various media houses confirming that they will start working on the highly anticipated video game story.
Netflix to Head Two Showrunners to Pilot the Series
Netflix has appointed two showrunners to pilot their live-action video game series titled Assassin’s Creed. According to the official Netflix statement, the two producers were selected because of their “interest in character-focused science fiction action.” The two producers for the Assassin’s Creed series include Roberto Patino and David Wiener.
Roberto Patino worked for a long time with series such as Sons of Anarchy and Westworld as a showrunner. On the other hand, David Wiener was the executive producer of the live-action adaptation series of Halo for Paramount+ while also working for AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead as a producer. The statement further states that the producers have been ardent fans of the game series since its release in 2007.
“We’re big fans of Assassin’s Creed since day one,” the showrunners were quoted to have saying in an official statement released. “Every day we work on this, we find ourselves stunned by the scope of the world and what is possible in terms of storytelling. At the heart of the action and intrigue is an incredibly human story about identity, purpose, faith, and the connection that transcends centuries.”

The Story will Not Only Involve Action-Adventure Themes.
Patino and Wiener have also continued to state in the Netflix statement that the Assassin’s Creed story will not be all about the conventional and mainstream themes of action and adventure. According to their statements, the series will also be all about the spiritual and conceptual connection and relationship between the characters.
“At its heart, this is a show about the preciousness of human connection—to each other, across time, across cultures—and the peril of losing those connections. With a fantastic team at Ubisoft and strong support from Netflix, we can’t wait to create something for fans all over the world,” the Netflix producers were further quoted to have saying in the statement.
Assassin’s Creed is A Franchise That Has Become a Phenomenon World-Wide
Assassin’s Creed is an action-adventure stealth video game franchise created and developed by Ubisoft. Since its creation in 2007, the Ubisoft game series has turned into a real-world international sensation that many enjoy and appreciate as a franchise. The release of Assassin’s Creed started the first part of the 2007–ongoing video game storyline, and the opening and basis of the game concept were set in the Holy Land during the time of the Crusades, and it was all about social stealth game play.
The three best-selling and highest-rated games in the Assassin’s Creed collection are from the Italian Renaissance saga, which are Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed Revelations, with the second installment earning various prestigious accolades and trophies.
These include being the most commercially successful game in the video game series and also being the game with the most-played storyline overall. Although Assassin’s Creed has been in the gaming business for almost two decades, the initial trilogy storyline from the game is still the most trending aspect of the video game series.
Assassin’s Creed Series Has Evolved to Become a New Interactive Experience in the Gaming World
In the past 18 years, 14 major episodes from the Assassin’s Creed story have been played by more than 113 million players all over the world from various gaming platforms. In chronological order, the episodes in the Assassin’s Creed saga include Assassin’s Creed Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, Mirage, III, Black Flag, Rogue, Unity, Syndicate, Chronicles, Chronicles II, and Liberation, among others.
The first two entries in the series were played on ancient Greece and the Roman Republic and Empire, respectively. The third, Black Flag, took players and fans to the pirates of the Caribbean, making it the biggest game both in storyline and playtime overall. Syndicate and Unity, on the other hand, were in Victorian-era London and the French Revolution.
The most recent one in the line, Mirage, took the storyline to Egypt during ancient times. All these past games have been hybrid open-world game experiences to offer more personal RPG play for each gamer. The next phase, which is yet to be announced, will be on feudal Japan, and the title has been put at Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. One of the major reasons players gave the Mirage game an excellent review is because Ubisoft took its time to release it to the gaming market, in a way assuring gamers of the quality of the game.
The Assassin’s Creed Series Remains Mysterious
Netflix, on the other hand, has been too secretive about the full storyline of the series. However, what Netflix has revealed to various media is that they have also released their series with the same name, in a live-action format. What Netflix will feature on the series has not been fully revealed to fans, but the concept used by Ubisoft will be used, where the characters from the present-day world will experience their ancestral stories through a genetic memory chip or bequeathed aura.
The combat abilities and open-world map to be used will also be from the Ubisoft storyline. The battle from this memory will be on these present-day characters surviving from the mythical fight between the Assassins and Templars of yesteryears.
The live-action series from Netflix, Assassin’s Creed, remains very mysterious in all aspects of which may take. But one thing fans know so far about the series is the theme.
It is not Netflix’s first live-action attempt to feature the Ubisoft storyline. The first-ever live-action feature film that was played by Michael Fassbender. This was way back in 2016. In the movie, Ubisoft’s story, The Assassination of Tyhon, was played.
